Keeping the Embers

Some knowledge is not written on paper. It is carried, generation upon generation, in the keeping of those who refuse to let the fire go out.
We honour Aunty Stella Wheildon, keeper of the ancient Lore. She recorded and preserved the teachings of the Githabul Ngarakbul Elders, holding this knowledge safe through the years. In doing so, she has been keeping the embers — tending the living warmth of an ancient fire so that it may pass, undimmed, to those who come after.
We honour the Githabul Ngarakbul Elders Council, the strong culture holders, whose custodianship keeps this Lore rooted in Country and community. Their strength is the ground the embers rest upon.
